Opportunities
I value opportunities of communicating with friends I know and others I would like to know. I have published a number of books and many articles but this week have learnt of the possibility that some of my writings may be recorded for the benefit of blind people. I am delighted about that. As a retired Salvation Army officer I welcome the chance to share something of my faith.

I happened upon your article "Souvenirs of Salvationalism 1" in "Journal of Aggressive Christianity," in which you write about a Salvation Army Telegraphic Code (1910).
For other readers, such a code enabled one to condense messages by associating longer phrases with single code words, thereby cutting communication costs (telegraphy was charged by the word). Here's the example you gave:
"kunge conveyed a message for all and sundry: ‘Let us pledge ourselves to love each other. With every injury forgiven, every grudge banished, with souls full of holy resolution to love each other as never before, let us march on to War’. And all that was conveyed for the price of a single word! "
The codes and their use in telegraphic message practice interests me enormously. I have come across some religious and missions codes, and have made some of what I've come up with available via
